Fruit Skewers

Fruit Skewers are easy to make, make ahead friendly and the always a hit at every birthday, baby/bridal shower, potluck, barbecue and pool party!


1/4 of medium watermelon, chopped
1/2 cantaloupe, chopped
1/2 pineapple, chopped
1 cup grapes
6 oz. blueberries
2-3 firm ripe bananas cut into ½ inch slices
4 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate or chocolate chips
1 teaspoon shortening


Thread fruit onto skewers, alternating fruit. For fresh fruit skewers, line skewers on a paper towel lined baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until read to serve. Y
For frozen fruit skewers: Line kabobs on wax paper. Melt the chocolate in the microwave on low at 30 seconds intervals, stirring in between until melted, being careful not to overheat. After chocolate is melted and still warm, stir in shortening (NOT butter), until smooth. To create a perfect drizzle, add chocolate to a ziploc bag, cut off the corner and squeeze chocolate through opening. ***You can also drizzle the chocolate when you are ready to eat the kabobs – it can be easier to eat and less brittle this way.
Freeze kabobs in a single layer on the wax paper for at least 2 hours before serving.
